Only in SF: Dynamo Donuts

It was a long week at the office last week so I thought I would surprise the team with Dynamo Donuts. For the unfamiliar, these donuts are basically San Francisco's answer to Voodoo. Unlike the donuts of my youth, these are complex-ly flavored, yeasty and not dripping in sugar glaze. The actual storefront is in the Mission, but you can also snag a few Tuesday through Friday at Soup Junkie, a Vietnamese soup and sandwich store, on Market in the Financial District. You = office hero.

If you have a free weekend, I would recommend visiting the actual store. They have many more flavors and the best part is you can post up in the backyard of the shop with a cuppajoe and soak up the sun. (Actually, the best part is the really, really nice girl who calls you darling and gets really excited about your donut choices. Can she be customer service everywhere?)

Below is an apricot cardamom donut (my fave) and a hibiscus beet chocolate. Mmmmmm.

P.S. The third best thing is that the house behind Dynamo has a kitty door with a cat staircase. I was endlessly entertained by the FIVE cats I saw climb in and out.
